This term appears in correspondence between patent attorneys regarding a limitation procedure. I am guessing it may be translated as "departure from the cited prior art", but am not very sure.

Departure does not fit so much when you read, though Abstand has many meanings such gap, interval, displacement... Mine is just an idea
