German to English translations [PRO]
Law/Patents - Law: Patents, Trademarks, Copyright
German term or phrase: Leistungsschutzrechte
I was trying to translate this as "patent protection rights" or "work-product protection rights." Can someone come up with a better translation?

Incidentally, I have a large 335,000-word Harper-Collins dictionary for my German translating. However, I have found that my dictionary seems to be highly inadequate, particularly involving specialized legal and financial terms. (I would like to specialize in these two areas.) Could you recommend top specialized dictionaries I could order/buy in a store and/or online-dictionaries available? It seems that they are very difficult to find as they don't really appeal to the masses just wanting to know what "das Buch" means.

I'm really want to get some first-rate reference materials. What do you use? What can you recommend to me? I don't care if they're expensive. They'd be well worth any price.

I thank you for your help.

According to Dietl/Lorenz dictionary of Legal, Commercial and Political Terms, a
Leistungsschutzrecht (UrhR) is an ancillary copyright.

neighbouring rights

Neighbouring rights have to do with persons who, for the most part, play a later intermediate role in the innovative process.

Should an invention meet to be eligible for patent protection? Q : What
are neighbouring rights? Q : When is the certification mark used?

Multimedia und das Urheberrecht
GRUR 1998, S. 18-27 (teilweise)

Multimedia and Copyright Law
GRUR 1998, pp. 18-27 (partly)
This paper tries to provide an overview of problems of copyright law in the age of multimedia (esp. Internet and CD-ROM). It covers problems of the reproduction right, online transmissions, certain information services and press reviews, copyright contracts, moral rights, neighbouring rights (sampling, multi channel services, performer's moral rights), the changing role of collecting societies (one-stop-shopping and ECMS) and international private law. Furthermore certain copyright problems of the Internet (routing, caching, linking) and fundamental problems of a copyright reform are discussed. This paper is only available in German.
