Does anybody know the translation for this Swiss law (Erwerb von Grundstücken von Personen im Ausland=Bewilligungsgesetz-BewG)??
Robert
Authorisation Act
Explanation:
Amendments, i.e. a tightening, of the provisions of the Federal Law on the Acquisition of Real Estate by Non-Residents of December 16, 1983 (Lex Koller or Bewilligungsgesetz – Authorization Act) or the corresponding administrative
practice may make the acquisition of real estate in Switzerland (ie commercially used property) by foreigners even more difficult or possibly impossible.

Or the more long-winded version would be Federal Law Governing the Acquisition of Real Estate by Non-Residents

Currently, the Federal Law Governing the Acquisition of Real Estate by Non-Residents (so called “Lex Koller”) provides for certain restrictions in respect of the acquisition of real estates by persons living abroad.

The "Swiss Federal Law on Acquisition of Real Estate by Persons Resident Abroad" – to give the Lex Koller its full title – was originally designed to protect Switzerland against an "inundation" of foreign nationals. However, the Federal Office of Justice has decided that with the exception of a few communities the law no longer serves any purpose and should therefore be abolished.
