I have a text which refers to

§ 4 Abs 5 Z 1

It is an Austrian text about fire safety but for reasons of confidentiality I cannot give any more context.

Can find lots of references to the act on the internet but can't seem to find what it stands for

Zitat 1

Explanation:
Z ist Zitat. Vielleicht ist es Zeile. Höchstwahrscheinlich ist es aber Zitat.

Entschuldigung. Es ist ja Ziffer nicht Zitat.

Z 1
Ziffer 1 / item 1

Explanation:
Z 1 actually means Ziffer 1

In this particular case, I would say Article 4, paragraph 5, item 1

neutral  Sabine Akabayov, PhD: I thought that too, but hid my answer, I think zitat is right. There are a few texts, where sometimes the Z is written and sometimes not, so I should be something more than Ziffer

-> As far as I know, in laws and regulations it should be "Ziffer". See the links above ;-)
