I agree with Uta Kappler. The idea is that of the other benefits being credited against, i.e. deducted from the child benefit.

It probably would make most sense to check with the client.
I wondered if the sentence was straightforward and it was just me having trouble with it, but it's slightly reassuring to see that others have varying opinions on it, too!

My interpretation is that the 'Leistungen' are in addition to the 'Kinderzulage'. Otherwise I'd expect something like "Von der gewährten Kinderzulage werden Leistungen nach dem Bundeselterngeld- und Elternzeitgesetz sowie den Landeserziehungsgesetzen in der jeweils gültigen Fassung abgezogen." Would it not be possible to simply check with the university what they're actually doing?

I understand this to mean that....
benefits per the legislation on parental allowance and parental leave (Bundeselterngeld- und Elternzeitgesetz - BEEG).... will be deducted from the allowance paid by a university to scholarship holders who have children, i.e. you cannot take full advantage of the allowance, if you already receive other benefits.
