to my thinking it´s not only about receiving, but also about selling a stolen car (which in German would be "bedenklicher Ankauf"

neutral  AllegroTrans: I cannot see any reference to "joining a gang" (which is not a crime per se)// "fencing" is not a term used for a criminal offence, and your phrase makes no sense in English

  -> no, but fencing a stolen car - is the crime. I´ve added additional links which are self explanatory.
