Dear Mr. Metzger,
the case is clear, the company does not have any legal duty to do this sort of payment, so it wants to make clear, that this is voluntary even if they do not say everytime it is. As for Leistung meaning payment, I may remind you that in German one also says \"eine Zahlung leisten\" = to pay something/a certain amount.

Thank you Adalbert. One problem I had was with Leistungen meaning payments rather than services. I had a hard time understanding how a company could choose to consider payment for a person's services to be voluntary.
