Paragraph and Clause Explanation: Depending on the overall structure of your text, I would use Paragraph for Absatz and Clause for Ziffer. It is important that you select terms which maintain the hierachy or the macrostructure of the document. Hope this helps! |

Paragraph and Clause (or Article) Explanation: Absatz und Ziffer By "Absatz" in German they always mean a part of text with "CR" at the end (ro, which is the same, started from break line, indented line and continuing to another break line or indented line). As for "Ziffer", this term stands for a part of text (it might be one paragraph or even some paragraphs (in polygrphic sense)) which is headed by a number. Please note that the part of text, organized as follows: !-------------------- : 1) ooooooooooooooo 2) kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk 3) iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii can also be treated as that "Ziffer". The porper term "Ziffer" means a figure, or the cipher or (less frequently) a number. Hope this helps! Sincerely yours, Dr. Tagir S. Tagirov KSU. I understand that the German symbol § is either translated as Section or Article (contracts or legislation). But what about Abs. and Ziff. ? Das Grosse, Russkii Yazyk, M.:, 1998. Vol. 2-3. Abs: Paragraph, ZIff.: No. Explanation: § (Paragraph) is generally translated into English as "section", which corresponds to the use of the symbol in English legal language (e.g. 42 U.S.C §1983 for "Title 42 US Code, Section 1983) Absatz is, as in non-legal language, paragraph. Ziffer is "number". Clause is translated as "Satz" or "Halbsatz". |
