German to English translations [PRO]
Law/Patents
German term or phrase: Wertzahlen In a letter about how much money someone gets for a patent they helped with. \\\\\\\"Die gesetzlichen Regelungen sehen dafuer entsprechende Wertzahlen vor, mit denen sich ein Anteilsfaktor bestimmen laesst. Je hoeher die Wertzahlen ausfallen, desto hoeher ist die Anteilsfaktor an dem Erfindungswert und damit letztlich die dem Erfinder zu zahlende Verguetung.\\\\\\\" Also, any suggestions for \\\\\\\"Anteilsfaktor\\\\\\\" would be appreciated. Thanks

English translation:valuation amounts; proportional factor Explanation:Maybe these translations work in your context. Apparently, the statute referred to in your context lists valuation amounts regarding the value of patents. These valuation amounts are then linked to a proportional factor with regard to the value of the specific invention.

(this would substantiate my assumption of "Anlagen" being "facilities").

ad-valorem ( = rate of) numbers

Explanation:
Wertzahlen are standards applicable to certain contingencies. For instance, a real estate broker is usually entitled to 6% of the object's sales price. \$100,000/ 6%=\$6,000. This is his "commission", which is the ad-valorem fixed amount.

rating values

Explanation:
"Wertzahlen" are not "amounts" in the context of inventor remuneration. They are dimensionless numbers assigned to certain circumstances of making an invention, which can then be added up and the sum converted to a percentage to be applied to the value of the invention.
Reitzle/Butenschön/Bergmann have prepared a translation of the german Act on Employee inventions (Wiley VCH, ISBN 3-527-30109-7). They have translated "Wertzahl" by "value number" and "Anteilsfaktor" by "rate of share". Not the most elegant translations either, but the German terms isn't really elegant either. My proposal would be "rating values" and "inventive contribution rating factor"
