Linguistically I suppose names are the most widespread type of loan word. How many children across the globe are named Alexander or Julius/Julie/Sheila after famous generals, or John/Johnan/Ivan/Jean(ne)/Joan/Jane or Maria/Marie/Mary after famous religious figures? In English we name our dogs Rex and Fido as well as King and "Old Reliable" regardless of the respective Latin meanings being the same as their English counterparts. I have a Hebrew first name, a Norwegian last name, and both my parents were native Anglophones! How many women are now named Mae Ling or Jacqueline or Brittany?

I had a next door neighbor here in the US who insisted that her first name Darcy was German. Don't ask...
However, you may tell the lady that the name L(o)uisa-Anna is German and that it was simply spelled in a creative and unique way. :-)

Actually this would be a Danish name (I know s.o. with that name; and it could possibly be used in German, too

The spelling is correct, but the girl who claims she is going to give her soon-to-be-born baby the German name Loane will be pretty disappointed, ha, ha... I Googled for it and as I found no references that would confirm it is a German name I decided to check with the experts. Thank you for your input.

What makes you think that this is a German name? It is not. :-)
Alternative: Are you sure that the spelling is correct and that you are not referring to the female first name "Liane"?
