German to English translations [PRO] Medical - Livestock / Animal Husbandry
There are a few organizations that train and certify Holistic Veterinarians in different disciplines, as well, as, the AHVMA that maintains a list of interested (but not always holistic) veterinarians. For you to choose a "Holistic Vet" you must first narrow down your needs. If you are looking for someone that has a regular practice but is open to Alternative medicine then your field is larger and many of the vets listed in the AHVMA (American Holistic Veterinary Medical Association) list might suffice.
As many more people embrace holistic medicine for themselves, they also realize how helpful it can be for their animal companions. Over the years, there has been an explosion of interest in the natural healing arts for dogs, cats, horses and even rabbits, birds and ferrets.
Also known as Alternative Medicine or Complementary Medicine, Holistic medicine is an umbrella that encompasses many different disciplines.

April 1999 - I ZR 108/ 97).
Regarding my suggestion to use scare quotes, I was clearly reading my prejudice into the source text. Plain old quotes, such as are used in the source text, would be just fine.
I think this may well be one of those vague layman's terms rather than an indication of how this particular person is educated. Certainly one can tell very little from the term Heilpraktiker (for humans) as used in Germany. The Heilpraktiker course is supposedly very tough and rigorous in its teaching of anatomy and physiology, for instance, but can lead to various career paths. My argument leans more towards avoiding inserting one's own prejudices into the text when they are not there in the source - i.e. there are no inverted commas in the German, why put them in the EN as Matthew had advocated?
No need for scare quotes, in the UK, homeopathic vets are fully qualified in standard veterinary care. They just choose to do an extra qualification in homeopathy and will offer both or a mix to their patients: http://www.bahvs.com/membership.htm
Naturopathy refers to a specific form of especially unscientific alternative medicine, with a distinct history and philosophy. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Naturopathy
I think you can call this a variety of terms - it probably depends on what the practitioner actually uses as there will be differences in the type of therapy offered. Without specific information it would be best to opt for a general term.
Or would you see "naturopathy" as something different? -- Just wondering.

animal healer
Explanation: Would be one option
e.g. "Then by chance I spotted a notice in the local paper referring to an Animal Healer and thought nothing would be lost if I gave them a ring and an appointment was arranged " see: http://www.beaconhealing.com/case.htm
