German to English translations [PRO]
Bus/Financial - Manufacturing / serial production of plastics
German term or phrase: Prozessfreigabe
I would be grateful if someone could give me the exact term.
This is still from the CV of a person who has been working in an plastic injection moulding plant and describes the various tasks he was entrusted with: one of them is listed as "Prozessfreigabe" Would process release work here or is there a better term?
I couldn't find the exact term in the Kudoz glossary or other sources.
I have an idea what it means but I am looking for the correct term
Thanks in advance

English translation:process approval, process sign-off
Explanation:
This is purely a guess, but it seems more logical that "processes" would be "approved" rather than "released".

As I said in my note to Petra, googling "process release" produces very few results for something actually called a "process release" (try it and look carefully at the punctuation in the results), whereas "process approval" seems to be an actual collocation.

There is also something called a PSO (Process Sign-Off), which is used in quality control and which may be what you're looking for. Here's a definition:

"Process Sign Off
Review of supplier's manufactoring process at the quoted peak daily rate. The PSO (Audit) will is performed at the supplier's manufacturing plant." (From http://www.isixsigma.com/dictionary/PSO-724.htm)

Perhaps you could check with your client whether it is something like this?

Like I said, it really is a guess, and as such should certainly be researched further - I just wanted to point out that I haven't been able to find a reliable reference for "process release" and that the reference Petra provided for it didn't seem to check out.

agree  Nicholas Krivenko: Exactly. This is similar to batch release but refers to a process.

neutral  Hilary Davies Shelby: I am not sure about this - the link you mentioned seems to go to a "release engineer" (software releases) and googling the phrase "process release" produces very few hits for it as a collocation - they all seem to include punctuation which changes meaning

agree  Carola Stone: To put Hilary's mind a little at rest: process release is in a manufacturing context perfectly correct. Have spend many years in plastic injection moulding plant and have regularly faced the issue of process release.
