German term or phrase: Charge
Does anyone have a specific feel for the difference between a Charge and an Ansatz (in a manufacturing/QC context)? Dictionaries and glossaries often give "lot" and "batch" for one or the other or both (doesn't seem to be much consistency). I'm afraid I don't have much in the way of specific context; the terms frequently come up in compounds such as "Chargenbezeichnung" or "Ansatzbezeichnung" on QC forms and appear, at least for the company in question, to be referring to different things.

Thanks for any input you can give.

batch / lot
Explanation:
IMHO Charge can be both "batch" and/or "lot", whereas "Ansatz" is something completely different, acc. to Kucera "Ansatz" can be "formulation" et al. acc. to www.leo.org it may match "preperation" or "make-up".
