German term or phrase: Amortisations- und Gewinnzeiten
The exact context is as follows:

"Durch den Rückgang der Produktlebenszyklen (oftmals um mehr als die Hälfte im Vergleich wie vor 10 Jahren) nahmen die Amortisations- und Gewinnzeiten über den Lebenszyklus kontinuierlich ab."

Would anyone know what they mean by "Gewinnzeit" here? Is it synonymous with "Amortisationszeit"? If so, would anyone know of a snappy US term that covers these two terms? Or are they two different concepts altogether?

All help much appreciated as always!

time taken to achieve ROI
Explanation:
As I understand it, Amortisation and Gewinnzeit are consecutive stages of a process. First, the products go through a process in which they recoup the investment (/pay for themselves), then they start generating returns on those investments (commonly called ROI). As in: "...the time taken to achieve amortisation and ROI decreased continually over the lifecycle of the product" (or similar).

This is great Orla, thanks a million for your help, I'd actually been thinking about ROI myself but it's always good to get another opinion :-) Thanks again!
