Seit der Museumsöffnung im Dezember haben über 10000 Besucher die XY Geschichte hautnah erlebt.

Dieser Satz steht am Ende einer Broschüre über ein Werksmuseum. Das Museum wurde von einem ehemaligen Mitarbeiter der Firma gegründet und dem Satz geht ein Dank an diesen besonderen Mitarbeiter der Firma voran, der ein wirklich interessantes und interaktives Museum geschaffen hat.

agree  Hilary Davies Shelby: your first two suggestions are grammatically incorrect ("aside them" is nonsensical, and it should be "standing beside them"), but i like "see history come alive"

agree  Paul Cohen: "experience/see/witness history come alive" works for me! / I'm not 100% sure about "feel" - but maybe I lack feeling. ;-(
