Working on a risk management document and this term comes up. Want to be sure I have it right.

The definition as it appears in the document:
Adäquat ist ein Damage, wenn Umstände im allgemeinen and nicht nur in besonders eigenartigen, ganz unwahrscheinlichen and nach dem regelmäßigen Verlauf der Dinge außer Betracht zu lassenden Kausalverläufen zur Herbeiführung eines Damages geeignet sind.

My translation:
Damage is considered adequate if it is caused by circumstances in general and not just based on especially singular, very improbable causal connections, which could normally be left out of consideration in accordance with the normal course of events.
