German term or phrase:Ersatzwert
Yet again, test spec and handbook for statistical energy software. It refers to filling in gaps in a set of statistical data where the input data is unavailable, eg:
Im Rahmen der Plausibilisierung wird auch eine automatische *Ersatzwertbildung* für Lücken (<30 min) konfiguriert. Eine Datenlücke wird manuell eingepflegt und die Plausibilisierung gestartet.
Die Lücken sind automatisch (Interpolation) geschlossen worden und der *Ersatzwert* in der Zeitreihe ist mit dem entsprechendem Status versehen.
In other translations I've seen both substitute value and replacement value.

I use \'substitute\' if the data has the function of a wildcard or placeholder with a defined value.
If it is an arbitrary value that is simply replaced by another value, \'replacement is better.
