we will never know. However, having been a patent examiner for more years than I care to remember, I know that one should NEVER make a patent text more specific than the original....patent attorneys prefer to use more general (less meaningful) terms if that can guarantee that the protection of the patent is not being limited. This is the reason behind my decision, in case you were wondering.....

It's your choice of course, but maybe some translator just punted... or the German copywriter got creative. We'll never know.

I would like to thank all of you for helping out on this one. However, I am going to close the question without grading, as I have been looking through drawings of hydraulic pump for a couple of hours, and have found a very similar drawing to the one I have for this patent, and.....the tiny channel even appeared in it. The anticlimax was, however, that in the En text, it was just called....."oil channel". I think I will play it safely and will do the same thing, and will use the NL version of "oil channel"....better this than to be too specific. Anyway; thank you all, once again!
