This comes in a caption in a photo report dealing with the welding of silencer parts:

'Stichprobe der bereits gefertigten Aufnahmen und deren Schweißausführung'

The picture itself shows a row of stirrup-shaped mountings welded onto a panel of sheet metal

I tend to 'baffles' or 'baffle mountings'. Which, if any, is correct please ?

Explanation:
"Aufnahme" is another one of those multi-purpose German words. In the given context, it sounds like the Aufnahmen are used to hold the silencer parts in a specified position prior to welding or some other processing step.
To me, a mounting is something permanent, whereas in your context the Aufnahmen have an intermediate purpose.

Thank you all for pointing me in the right direction. 'Retainer' is indeed used in this context, I found, but further research showed that the company in question prefers 'baffle shoe' for this particular application.
