German term or phrase:Passverbindung
In my specific context, there are two elements: Zapfen und Langloch, which form this "Passverbindung".

Question is though: what do we say for Passverbindung in English?
Hi Bernd. Thanks for that. I'm now toying with ideas like "close-tolerance joint" or "tight-fitting joint". I have found "fit joint" but only in translations from Japanese (I don't know what the original would be)
On a slightly different tack, I wonder if it might be taking the Zapfen as the equivalent of a Paßstift (which still leaves me no nearer to resolution).

The load-carrying capacity is higher than that of a standard friction-grip connection without close-tolerance bolt. Asker: Thank you for your suggestion. I suppose it iwll be close-tolerance. I thought, in the end, that it was important to incorporate the "fit" aspect, so I went for that one.
