German to English translations [PRO]
Tech/Engineering - Mechanics / Mech Engineering
German term or phrase: Adhäsionskräfte Luft/Metall
Adhäsionskräfte Luft/Metall d.h. zu beschichtende Flächen dürfen nicht waagerecht im Bad liegen

Adhesive forces of air/metal, i.e., the surfaces to be coated should not lie horizontally in the bath.

Is something missing between 'Adhäsionskräfte' and 'Luft/Metall'?

Inputs will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

adhesive forces between air and metal

Explanation:
adhesive power [tech.] die Adhäsionskraft

adhesive force Adhäsionskraft {f}

Adhesive forces between a liquid and solid cause a liquid drop to spread across the surface. Cohesive forces within the liquid cause the drop to ball up and avoid contact with the surface.

The new context modifies the translation as following:

"Adhäsionskräfte /Luft/Metall beachten, d.h., die zu beschichtenden Flächen dürfen nicht waagerecht im Bad liegen"
=>
Observe the adhesive forces between air and metal, e.g. the surfaced to be plated (or coated acc. to the process) must not be placed (or deposited or laid) horizontally within the tub.

The phrase could also be transformed to "... so dass keine Luftblasen aufgrund der Adhäsionskräfte Luft/Metall an den zu beschichtenden Flächen haften bleiben, d.h. d.h. zu beschichtenden Flächen dürfen nicht waagerecht im Bad liegen"

in English:
"... that no air bubbles are lodged on surfaces to be tinned (plated, coated) due to the adhesive forces between air and metal, this means (requires) that the surfaces to be plated must not be placed horizontally in the tub".

Unsure, what interpretation is nearer to the sens.

Surface tension

Explanation:
Apparently this is for plating. There can be no surface tension of air bubbles to the metal once it is submersed in the bath.
