You might consider whether "stockkeeping unit" (SKU) or "single stockkeeping unit" (SSKU) could be the appropriate abbreviation. Itemization in SKU management often depends on the diversity of the product line.

Any reason for making that suggestion or is it merely because you want it to look vague? What does TW stand for? The customer said that PU was clumsy but TW would be idiotic if there was no base to it.

I had expected this kind of a response from a smart translator Phil. Your questions are perfectly valid. I asked the customer why in the first place he needs an abbreviated version. He says there is space only for 2 characters in that table in the brochure, where VE is the last column.
PU to my mind is not used traditionally in ENG and we normally use it for something like Polyurethane foam or the like. However as you say what else could/should it be. Hence my request: Rather than coming up with such queries, just make a suggestion. Is there some abbreviation which would look English rather than sound English? I would appreciate a more helpful contribution. Thanks

I can't make head or tail of your question. You say you've translated it "correctly", but what is the correct translation? And if it's packaging unit, why is PU clumsy? What else could it be - ZX? And why does it need abbreviating anyway? You haven't given any context.
