German to English translations [PRO]
Tech/Engineering - Mechanics / Mech Engineering / food-chopping machine
German term or phrase: Vorlegeklappe
This occurs in a brief description of a machine for chopping frozen leafy food. Example of its occurrence in the text:
"Beschickung über seitlich angeordnete Vorlegeklappe mit Sicherheitsschalter. Sie verhindert ein Eingreifen in den Arbeitsbereich, ermöglicht das Ablegen des Produktes ..."
I've provisionally translated Vorlegeklappe as "loading hatch" but the significance of using "Vorlege-" in the word is unclear - can somebody explain?
The only "Vorlegeklappe" I can find in the Internet is from Austria 150 years ago!
Thanks if you can help.

safety guard
Explanation:
haven't got time to research, but jgoing by the description and having operated a meat slicer for deli foods for a while, this seems to be the right word here.
Hope you'll get more answers to confirm All the best

Thanks, Ingeborg, especially as your answer was in time for me to consider it for this job. I used "loading hatch" after all but, paradoxically, your reply increased my confidence that it was OK! The use of "Sicherheitsschalter" & other words covers the safety aspect.

loading flap

Explanation:
I think vorlegen in the sense of loading/feeding is pretty much what is meant. It must be a flap/hatch and, as in Ingeborg answer, this device is fitted with a safety guard (the Sicherheitsschalter).
