German term or phrase: Eckplatzierung
Platzierung im Werbeblock: „Fair Share“ Anteil an Eckplatzierungen pro Sender

Local time: 21:48
English translation:prime slot
Explanation:

(i.e. not just the first)

We now associate the term 'prime time' with TV ratings and advertising, i.e. the prime slot for the placing of TV adverts.

This reporter also refers to the 'A position' for the first ad in the commercial break
http://www.medialifemagazine.com/artman2/publish/Research_25...

However, that still doesn't cover the prime slot at the other 'corner' (end) of the commercial break when people are returning from the kitchen, mug of cocoa in hand, to see the rest of the programme (Z position?).

first slot

Explanation:
'Eckplatzierung' specifically means positioning an ad as the first commercial in a cluster of TV commercials (as the following ones get lower ratings).
Cf. http://www.finanznachrichten.de/nachrichten-2009-09/15026224... [see 'Eckplatz']

The common English term is 'first slot' (as far as I know there's no analogous fixed term such as 'first-slot placement').

Note: 'ad placement' is a common term also, so you could just combine the two if you like.
