German term or phrase: CD-Wiedergabe springt bei kleinen Erschütterungen.
Can you say "die Wiedergabe springt"? How do I translate this into English?
Frederike
The smallest vibrations cause CD playback to jump
Explanation:
I prefer it in English this way round and think "playback" is most relevant for "Wiedergabe" in this context.

or \"skip\" is perhaps better for springen in this context

CD-Wiedergabe springt bei kleinen Erschütterungen. CD reproduction jumps at the slightest vibration

Explanation:
Looks like a good possibility; taken over from the good old vinyl days.

agree Cilian O'Tuama: agree skip better than jump, but IMO playback (and reproduction) can be omitted, i.e. (even) the smallest vibration causes the CD to skip o.ä.

-> I agree, you could quite feasibly omit "playback"

neutral David Moore: But for the "smallest", I might have agreed with this myself, as Cilian has, but here, I feel vibrations are "slight", and not "small"
