Asker: I know that extrasystoles are premature contractions of the heart, but the terms unifocal/multifocal seem to pertain to whether these extrasystoles are coming from the same part of the heart and having the same shape on the ECG (unifocal) or whether they are coming from several parts of the heart and having various shapes on the ECG (multifocal).
unifocal/unimorphic - Beats originate from 1 focus, ie, all VPCs have the same morphology
multifocal/multimorphic - VPCs have more than 1 morphology and may originate from more than 1 site
