German to English translations [PRO] Medical - Medical: Dentistry / Implants | | German term or phrase: Nachexpandieren | "Wie schön wenn ein Modell die Position der Modellanaloge nicht eigenständig ( durch wildes Nachexpandieren ) ändert sondern die einmal definierte Stelle auch bei Abgabe der Arbeit noch da ist wo der Abdruck sie vorgesehen hatte."
From a text that seems to be promoting some kind of dental stone. This section is about the use of the stone with implants. Anyway, I can't find a translation for Nachexpandieren anywhere, and really have no idea what it mean. Post-expansion? Re-expansion? Some other kind of expansion? I haven't got a clue. TIA for your assistance. |

Nachexpandieren refers to an (unwanted) characteristic of the registration material: it doesn't keep its original form but expands
Zinc oxide eugenol paste on the other hand was the least accurate of the materials tested, exhibiting an initial expansion at the end of the first hour. This expansion was followed by contraction and again by expansion.
