German to English translations [PRO]
Medical - Medical: Dentistry
German term or phrase: Assistent
Hi all,

I am proofreading a text on dental surgery equipment.
The source text reads:
"Zurzeit arbeitet ein **Assistent** mit nahezu 2 m Körpergröße in unsere (sic) Praxis, der jede Gelegenheit nützt, um an der neuen Einheit zu behandeln und schwärmt von dem Komfort, den die Einheit bietet."

The translation reads:
"Currently we have a **dental assistant** almost 2 m tall ..."

I am convinced that dental assitant is wrong.
What is the correct term in UK English? Resident dentist?

English translation:assistant dentist
Explanation:

See discussion above. I think Peter's initial hunch was correct and this refers to a dentist, not a dental assistant.

Dental Assistant

Explanation:
I would go ahead and use "dental assistant". There are various specific job titles in dentisty (dental nurse, dental technician, dental therapist) but as only assistant has been used in German, I'd translate it as such.
