German to English translations [PRO]
Tech/Engineering - Medical: Dentistry / Sandblasting Procedure
German term or phrase: Retentionsrelief
"Vor dem Auftragen des Opakers wurde das Kronenkäppchen mit Aluminumoxid der Körnung 110 My bei einem Strahldruck von 1-2 bar abgestrahlt. Der Pinsel darf nicht zu weich sein, damit der Opaker das ***Retentionsrelief*** gut ausfüllt."

From a text about making dental restorations with electroforming, sandblasting etc. Anyone happen to know what a "Retentionsrelief" might be? No convincing hits for "retention relief". TIA for your help.

English translation:retention surface
Explanation:
maybe you could use retention surface. It is probably a surface with a specific shape/relief, that helps in retaining the substance

Thank you for at least answering, but I'm not convinced by this, because there is also such a thing as a Retentionsoberfläche. I therefore can't help feeling that something other than just "surface" is meant. Might ask this question again in the hope of getting greater participation and better answers. But thanks again for at least having a go.
