AMuller: that's what I'd say, too - I don't find it strange at all, personal assistant here is used in the sense of carer, so it's just someone trying for the same kind of work they have done before

Christian: I find the source text a bit confusing: ... dachte ich ... zu suchen. Does this mean that the person is no longer seeking another job as a personal assistant? Why did he use past tense? Anyway, Kim's translation of this sentence is really good.

Bianca Adriaensen: "..dachte ich... zu suchen..." is probably meant as an attempt to express confidence for being the right person for that personal assistant job. I've seen examples from Dutch managers using that same trick.

Explanation:
I would prefer to say "working with disabled people" or "working with people with disabilities". I see this as more accurate because "the disabled" implies disabled people as a large general group, whereas is he/she has been working as a personal assistant it will have been with quite specific individuals.

For my taste, seek is not a word much used in everyday language, so I would prefer to say "look for work as a personal assistant" (and for some reason I prefer "work as" to "job")

Sorry, not in German I realise.
