German to English translations [PRO]
Medical - Medical: Pharmaceuticals / pain management
German term or phrase: Gemeinsam sind diesen Substanzen
Here is the entire sentence which appears in a medical journal about drugs used in pain management:
Gemeinsam sind diesen Substanzen die Hemmung der Cyclooxygenasen der Prostaglandinsynthese, aber auch verschiedene organtoxische Effekte.

Is part of the verb missing here in this sentence? Or am I missing something about how 'diesen Substanzen' should be translated?
Would a valid translation be:
Both the inhibition of cyclooxygenases associated with prostaglandin synthesis but also various organotoxic effects are 'attributable' to these substances.
Thanks in advance!

disagree  sibsab: "etwas gemeinsam haben" is not the same as "together"//Even if you change the perspective, you should translate the meaning correctly.

-> Sure if you whant to go literal

neutral  Dr. Johanna Schmitt: with sibsab: "etwas gemeinsam haben" means "to have something in common".

-> I'm saying the perspective should be turned around to express the interpretation given bythe asker

disagree  Cilian O'Tuama: it's "diesen", not "diese"
