disagree  Dietrich Herrmann, MD, PhD, MBA: What you are referring to is a type of prosthesis known as "hinged". Of course all the knee prostheses rotate around a transverse axis.Nowadays hinged types are only used in special casesThe 2 "German?"terms are unknown to my colleagues and me.
