"Extrauterine" is perfectly OK, but when I was pregnant, my gynaecologist and all the books talked more often about ECTOPIC pregnancies... :-)

extrauterine G., bei der die Einnistung des befruchteten Eies auf dessen Weg vom Eierstock zur Gebärmutter im Eileiter (Tuba uterina) stattfindet (s. Abb.); häufig bereits im seitlichen, erweiterten (= ampullären) Teil (führt meist zum Tubarabort) oder aber im engeren (= isthmischen) Teil (führt meist zur lebensbedrohlichen Tubenruptur), selten im die Uteruswand durchziehenden (= interstitiellen = intramuralen) Teil des Eileiters. Ursachen: erworbene (z.B. durch Salpingitis, s.a. Abb.) oder angeborene Störungen der Eileiterdurchgängigkeit (Verklebungen, Ausbuchtungen, Knicke, Endometriose) bzw. Störungen der Tubenperistaltik. Symptome: Schmierblutungen 2–4 Wochen nach ausgebliebener Menstruation, einseitige, periodische Schmerzen; plötzlich einsetzende, heftige Schmerzen v.a. bei Tubenruptur (lebensbedrohliche innere Blutung).
