addendum Explanation: I suspected that "smokers' leg(s)" --though shown in one legitimate medical dictionary dictionary -- might be extremely uncommon in actual medical usage in English-speaking countries, and than mainly as a direct translation from the German, where your term appears much more common. So I added an AltaVista search for "smokers leg" "smokers' leg" "smokers' legs" "smokers leg" in Any Language. It yielded only 10 hits --- some of German/Austrian origin and ranging from alternative medicine to irrelevant to outright W*E*I*R*D (believe it! e.g.:) >>>Extreme Fetishes - she-males, pregnant sluts, golden showers, fat sluts, bondage, hentai, toons, anime and more!<<< (I refuse to cite this URL) . The upshot: stick with the medical definition (arteriosclerosis ... ) I included -- and at most mention the direct translation parenthetically. Unless this is for a VERY specific kind of client. :-) |
