German to English translations [PRO]
Medical - Medical (general) / neuro
German term or phrase: Gefäßbrücke
Yet another question from a neurolysis surgical report.
Context: Nun beginnt schrittweise die Präparation zunächst nach proximal in die beugeseitige Unterarmmuskulatur. Der Nerv wird hier dargestellt, wobei sich hier eine kräftige Gefäßbrücke zeigt, die quer über den Nerven zieht und offensichtlich hier zu einer Kompromittierung führt.

Is this a large vascular bundle passing over and compressing the nerve?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A direct translation -- 'vascular bridge' is certainly in use. Google it and decide.

disagree  Cetacea: If you read the question carefully, you'll see that this is not about an artificial implant, but about a natural structure.

A vascular bundle is specific to botany, as far as I know.

anastomosis: The connection of separate parts of a branching system to form a network, as of leaf veins, blood vessels, or a river and its branches.

An anastomosis can either be a natural or a surgical connection between vessels.

It is not clear from the context here that the term describes a connection between blood vessels; the word could simply describe the fact that a blood vessel "bridges" the nerve and compresses it. In this case, I would just use "blood vessel" and be done with it :)
