German to English translations [PRO]
Medical - Medical (general) / Endovenous Laser Therapy
German term or phrase: Stammvenenvarikose
"Mittelfristige Ergebnisse nach endovenöser Lasertherapie der Stammvenenvarikose mit dem 980 nm Diodenlaser - Versuch einer komplexen Ergebnisbeurteilung"

This is the title of an article about endovenous laser therapy. I can't find a translation for Stammvenenvarikose anywhere. I did see where there was a question for "Stammvaricosis", but was not at all convinced by the "winning" answer. I think the suggestion made there about "secondary varicosis of the major veins" was much closer to the mark, but I'd like something a bit snappier, if possible. The Stamm part of the word is especially puzzling and difficult to translate in this context, and it appears numerous times throughout the text in words like Stammvarikose and Stammvenen, as well as the above Stammvenenvarikose. TIA for your help.

varicose saphenous veins
Explanation:
"Stammvenen" is another term for the saphenous veins, mostly the V. saphena magna.

Of couse, I don't know if "Medium-term results after endovenous laser therapy of varicose saphenous veins using the 980 nm diode laser" is snappy enough... ;-)
