resection plane(s)

Explanation:
Ebene = plane
Abtragung = resection

Hence: resection plane(s)

e.g.:
The lateral lobes are then undermined on each side by extending the initial bladder neck incision laterally and circumferentially at the apex, working toward the 2 and 10-o’clock positions. The depth of the initial bladder neck incision is used as a guide to the surgical capsule and the plane of dissection. Once found the plane is clearly visible, the lobes strip away easily. The plane is developed from the apex toward the bladder neck. A bladder neck incision is then also made at the 12-o’clock position down to the capsule. A sweeping motion is used to continue the incision circumferentially laterally, as well as distally, until the resectoscope can be partially withdrawn, and the upper and lower resection planes can be visualized and connected. This is probably the most challenging part of the procedure. It is particularly so in large prostates in which it is occasionally difficult to judge how far back to carry the upper incision before sweeping down. Coming down too early leads to creating a new plane of Once each of the lateral lobes has been released from the bladder neck in turn, hemostasis should be attended to with the defocused laser beam. This is important to achieve optimal visibility for the next part of the operation, the morcellation of prostate fragments.

were advised to undergo TURP. The TURP procedure
was comprised of removing the adenoma from the
transitional zone and the resection plane advanced to
the surgical capsule.

A description of the plane of surgical excision.
01 Mesorectal fascia Mesorectal surface is smooth with only minor irregularities of its surface such that no defect is deeper than 5mm. The mesorectum itself is of good bulk anteriorly and posteriorly and there is no ‘coning’ near the tumour.
02 Intramesorectal The mesorectum is of moderate bulk but the mesorectal surface is irregular. The muscularis propria of the rectal wall is not visible except at the area of insertion of the levator muscles. Moderate coning of the specimen is present distally.
03 Muscularis propria There is little bulk to the mesorectum and its surface is irregular with deep cuts and tears, some of which extend on to a visible muscularis propria.

neutral  Harald Moelzer (medical-translator): ...sounds logical but almost all references in the web refer to the surgical situs...// however, "tumorfrei" in this context is a diagnosis made in histology after staining resected tissue!!

  -> I am really sorry Harald. Possibly I miss here something. Ref. is made in the Q to "Ebene" (plane) and not margin, there is no ref. to histology per se. However, you can obtain a specimen from material recected in a certain plane (see my note added above)
