sorry, I couldnt retrace the link referred to above.
To my thinking, the term sich einwürgen is a synomym of "sich ein-nisten", i.e. to settle down, to lodge oneself. some dictionaries suggest as corresponding verb <to burrow> which I find less adequate in this context.
