German to English translations [PRO]
Medical - Medical (general)
German term or phrase: Wald-und Wiesen Praxis
This is and audio interview.

The moderator says: Like you said in the preliminary I nterview, in the broadest sense it is comparable to a joint practice with several disciplines.

And the doctor answers: Exactly, we have special consultation-hours there also for other diseases, and also directly for psoriasis and neurodermatitis. We are not some "WALD-UND WIESEN PRAXIS".

Could this be just translated with general medicine practice, or is there a term comparable to Wald-und Wiesen, that I could use?

English translation:run-of-the-mill practice
Explanation:
Not some generic practice covering just everything. The normal German phrase is "Feld-Wald- und Wiesen-" meaning, quite rightly, a "generalist" approach in a somewhat, not excessively, derogatory sense.

We are not just "any old" (general) practice

Explanation:
I think it gets colloquially closer than just "general"

run-of-the-mill practice

Explanation:
run of the mill = Something that is run-of-the-mill is a common, everyday, ordinary item that does not stand out from all the rest. In other words, something or someone that is "run-of-the-mill" is probably not notable.

e.g.:

xxx, the nation´s leading physician search firm, invites you to investigate an outstanding opportunity for a general Orthopaedic Surgeon. Not to be confused with the run-of-the-mill practice, this group is looking to recruit a new Orthopaedist due to tremendous community growth and their upcoming move to a new specialty/surgical hospital in town. Call me today as this position will fill quickly given its desirable location and setting.

Family oriented dentistry from babies to adults. Not your run-of-the mill practice. We listen to your needs and plan your treatment accordingly.

The conversion of a run-of-the-mill medical practice into a community health resource centre required a radical rethink of purpose and a deliberate effort to accept community values, perspectives, and personnel, and to be part of the ‘virtuous circle of
social capital’.

common-or-garden practice

Explanation:
In British English (- not sure about other variants -) we have the expression “common-or-garden”, which is used as an adjective and seems to mimic rather nicely the character of the German expression you’re translating.

When used figuratively rather than literally, I would say the expression has a somewhat, but not excessively, informal flavour.
