German to English translations [PRO]
Medical - Medical (general) / Orthosis System
German term or phrase: Montageschlüssel
"Montage Zehenbügel

"Vakuumkissen herausnehmen, Schraube an Fussplatte mit Montageschlüssel öffnen (1.) und Fussplatte entfernen, Zehenteil entfernen und neues Zehenteil mit Bügel einsetzen (2.). Fussplatte wieder einlegen und mit Schraube sichern."

From a text about an orthosis system. More on the "Zehenbügel", which I asked about earlier. This time we have instructions for mounting or assembling it on the main orthosis. Any ideas what a "Montageschlüssel" is called in English? It's obviously a spanner or wrench of some sort, but I can't find any dictionary references for it. It might be in your dictionary, though. TIA for your help.

Allen wrench
Explanation:
This proposal is probably too specific unless you have a picture somewhere. But the standard tool that comes with equipment that has to be assembled is an Allen wrench or hex key.

Allen wrench:
An rod with six sides and often L-shaped. Used to remove certain screws and fastenings, especially set screws. Sometimes called "hex wrenches" or "Allen key."

If you don\'t have a picture, you might just call it an assembly tool, to be on the safe side.

Thanks Kim and armaat. I haven't got a picture, so think I will play it safe and go with "assembly tool". Cheers.

agree  Melanie Nassar : You might be right, but to be on the safe side,I think just assembly tool or wrench is preferrable.
