it's a text about cutting copper pipes.

Ferner fällt kein Abschnittswert wie z.B. beim Nachsägen an.

Ich denke mal, es betrifft das extra Maß, dass man für den Verschnitt mit einrechnet?! was in diesem Falle wegfällt?!

I don't think you can use cut-off here, because it has too many connotations.

Occasionally, the term saw-cut allowance is used, but we always talked about a "cutting allowance" in both woodwork and metalwork at school. I've googled "cutting allowance" and a lot of the hits seem to apply to similar situations to yours. There's a good tube and pipe glossary at www.schoellerbleckmannpt.com (link below).

Explanation:
Occasionally, the term saw-cut allowance is used, but we always talked about a "cutting allowance" in both woodwork and metalwork at school.
