German to English translations [PRO]
Tech/Engineering - Metallurgy / Casting / oxidation
German term or phrase: Brunnenwasserschwärze
Sollte beim Transport oder Abladen Feuchtigkeit in die Pakete eindringen, sind diese sofort zu vereinzeln, da sich binnen weniger Stunden bei Stahl Weißrost und bei Aluminium Brunnenwasserschwärze bildet, die nicht ohne bleibende Oberflächenveränderung entfernt werden können.

is there corresponding English term for this

English translation:wet storage stain
Explanation:
Kommt anscheinend besonders bei 55%-Aluminium vor und wird auch als Lagerflecken bezeichnet. Zuerst sind sie wohl noch eher weiß und werden dann als white rust bezeichnet. Bei weiterer Oxidation wird das ausblühende (unsightly) Material dann dunkelgrau bis schwarz.
The usual progression is from visible water staining to unsightly whiterust ( dark grey to dull black on aluminum - zinc alloy coated sheet ) to red rust. On material where wet storage stain has ccurred, it should be noted that minor amount of white or grey staining is not detrimental to the functioning of the product and is considered acceptable.

Manchmal wird auch einfach von aluminum/black rust gesprochen.
