German to English translations [PRO]
Tech/Engineering - Metallurgy / Casting / Casting industry
German term or phrase: Gießbadspiegels
Context:

Beim Gießen, insbesondere Stranggießen von Metallen, insbesondere Stahl, erfahren Gießformen aus Kupferwerkstoffen eine erhebliche Wärmebelastung, die speziell im Bereich des Gießbadspiegels und im Besonderen bei schnell gießenden Stranggießanlagen mit Gießgeschwindigkeiten von deutlich mehr als 2 m/min sehr hoch ist.

Please help to define this term in English.

Thank you!

melt level; casting bath level
Explanation:
This is what my take would be, although the second idea does appear to be more used in patents than elsewhere.

The "melt level" I guess would be the same as the "casting bath level", that is the level of the molten metal (in the casting bath).

-> I was not suggesting an alternative to the fundamental meaning of what you said but how you said it. I was using the terminology I learnt during many years work in the steel industry.
