Law/Patents - Military / Defense / GDR
German term or phrase: Obermeister
I know it is a rank within the Volkspolizei, but what would be an accurate translation into English? It's kind of unique I think?

Obermeister

Explanation:
I'd leave it as Obermeister.
However, I found this translation on a German Army page:
"Warrant Officer 1st Class of a Technical Establishment"
(see link below)
I don't know if it's appropriate, though.

I've also found "Overseer"

police sergeant first class

Explanation:
polizeimeister = police sergeant,
polizeiobermeister = police sergeant first class,
polizeihauptmeister = police sergeant major.
then polizeikommissar, kommissar, and hauptkommissar = police 2LT, 1LT, and Captain.
