| | KE penetrator rods | Explanation: It looks like a weapon designed to defend against kinetic energy penetrators.
A kinetic energy penetrator (also known as a KE weapon) is a type of ammunition which, like a bullet, does not contain explosives and uses kinetic energy to penetrate the target.
The term can apply to any type of armour-piercing shot but typically refers to a modern type of armour piercing weapon, the armour-piercing fin-stabilized discarding sabot (APFSDS), a type of long-rod penetrator (LRP), and not to small arms bullets.

Recently, the US military unveiled a massive kinetic energy weapon - a Trident II missile with a payload of tungsten rods designed to reenter the atmosphere at extremely high speeds, scattering kinetic buckshot everywhere and doing damage similar to the very largest conventional explosives.

Anti-armor kinetic energy (KE) projectiles are long rods launched at high speed, causing damage due to their kinetic energy (mass and speed). Therefore, they are usually made of high density materials to increase the mass for a given volume.

A KE penetrator rod hitting the add-on armor is under immense pressure by the different angeld plates. This results in it hitting the main armor at a bad angle and so highly reduces the penetration capability of the rod. Depending on the round fired as well as the angle of impact the rod may also get blunted or brakes apart reducing penetration even further.
