I know of no other meaning. But in the lines below from a Korngold song (Stärker als der Tod), I can't get the feel of what the poet is getting at.
Es soll das Rebenblatt mich lehren
durch seine Pracht und durch sein Rot
The CD booklet has it translated as, "And let their twining tendrils teach me by beauty rare and perfumed breath," This isn't much of a translation if you ask me. What am I missing? As used here, could "Rot" be an abbreviated version of another word? Help would be appreciated. |

Reference information: I'm not saying this is a great translation, it's just one that I found online.
Nimm meinen schweren Dornenkranz
Take my heavy wreath of thorns
From my white hair,
The wreath of dark painful thoughts.
Allow vines of joy
to wind around my tired head.
The grape leaf should teach me
Through his brilliance and his redness,
That Love is a great power
And stronger still than death itself.
