These EBDs are a very German thing - in the transition zone between dietary supplements and pharmaceuticals.
So in EU directive 1999/21/EC (of 25 March 1999 on dietary foods for special medical purposes) --> http://eur-lex.europa.eu/LexUriServ/LexUriServ.do?uri=CONSLE... (page 4, Article 4) you can check all the different translations, and you also see the specific German expression.
If you like to give an English expression to reflect the EBD meaning, you may say: "incomplete, nutrient-adapted formulation", but - see above - this term should *not* be translated into English.
