Falls man sich eine Ernaehrungstherapie ausgedacht hat ist es sehr wichtig, dass der Hausarzt auch ins Brot kommt.

Dieser Satz ist aus einem Interview indem der Facharzt gefragt wird welche Rolle die Allgemeinmediziner/Hausaerzte bei der Behandlung bestimmer Patienten spielen.

Es ist mir klar, dass "ins Brot kommen" ein Idiom ist, mir ist aber leider nicht gelaeufig wofuer. :)

Ist dieser Ausdruck moeglicherweise vergleichbar mit "an Bord sein/kommen?

Would be the meaning. An attempt at a food pun; usually the phrase means "get some of the action" in the sense of profiting in some sense, but here that would not apply.

agree  de>en: Sounds plausible. The phrase "ins Brot kommen" certainly does occur in German, in the more literal sense of including something as an ingredient in bread. "Participates" is well chosen; the pun would be lost in translation, but no great loss. :)
