|Sorry for late reply. I couldn't cope with password problems. So, there is no way but this one to submit an evaluation on the advice provided by Mr. Murret-Sunders as the most helpful one. |
Best wishes. Shafranov. Russia.

I don't exactly understand what you ask
for. You have a variety of great answers
already (all depending on context), but
I offer you here the entries of Muret-Sanders:
1.(von Personen) quality
2. (Merkmal) attribute, (distinctive) feature, characteristic
3. (von Dingen) property, e.g. chemical
and physical properties
5. (Wesen) nature
6. (Stellung) capacity, position
7. (legale) status
8. Haftung fuer zugesicherte Eigenschaften=liability for representations (made as to the quality of goods of sale)

Sorry for some misleading as I gave such a strange environment for the questioned German word. The only reason for this was the problems I had had trying to evaluate the previous word. This was why I used that way to say you my YES for your greatest help in previous word explanation. Another bizarre thing was that I happened to be as absent-minded as to call you Mr. Muret-Sunders in that message for which I ask for your pardon separately.
Thank you again.
Sincerely Evgeny (Eugene) Shafranov
