German term or phrase: Rauracher
This comes from a text about the poor performance of the company Adidas.

Vor allem in den USA hatten die Herzogenrauracher deswegen Marketanteile verloren.

There is clearly more than a hint of irony here. 'Rauracher' seems to be used in Swiss German, and seems to be a common place name there. I have translated it as 'ducal lineage' because it fits in, but I haven't been able to track down the correct meaning. Can anybody help?

Explanation:
Unfortunately no pun intended. Adidas is headquartered in Herzogenaurach, near Erlangen in Bavaria. So it is the straightforward reference to inhabitants as in the famous I am a Berliner.

die Herzogeauracher

Explanation:
I think there is a typo and a misunderstanding here.
Adidas is based in Herzogenaurach, so there is no 'Rauracher'.

Herzogenaurach

Explanation:
Herzogenaurach is where Adi Dassler -- later the respected and popular master shoemaker for the German national soccer team and an athlete himself -- started the Dassler Brothers Sport Shoe Company in 1924 and later launched the Adidas brand.

Adidas-Salomon AG is still there. So is Puma, a competitot started by Adi's brother. Like nearby Frauenaurach, the town is located on the Aurach river not far from Nürnberg.
